Week 2, Stockinette Stitch

Week 2 Pattern:

CO 36 Stitches
Rows 1-5 K all stitches.
Rows 6-59:
Row 6 and all even rows: K4, then P to last 4 stitches, K4
Row 7 and all odd rows:  K all stitches
(Adjust the number of rows here to create a square if needed.)
Rows 60-64 K all stitches.
BO all stitches.

Vocabulary:
Stockinette Stitch - creates a product with one flat side and one bumpy side by knitting one row and purling the next.
P - Purl

Purl Stitch

1. When doing the knit stitch, the yarn held behind the work, like this.

2. To purl, bring the yarn forward, between the stitches, like this.

3. Slip needle into the right side of the first stitch on the needle, like this.

4. Wrap yarn over the needle.


5. Draw yarn through the stitch.


6. Slip stitch off left needle.
